The Asset Encumbrance Report is comprised of tables 32 to 36 of the FINREP dataset. It is submitted as a separate template on a Quarterly basis, complementing the FINREP submission. The report provides a deeper analysis in encumbered assets i.e. assets pledged as collateral by the bank for further operations, such as the issuance of bonds, trading of derivatives as well as Repo transactions. One of the most important aspects covered in the report is the association of the pledged assets with the liabilities they give rise to. As such, all pledged assets need to be specifically tied with the respective liabilities in the bank’s portfolio, to enable correct reporting. Details on the issuance of covered bonds by the reporting MFI are also required for reporting.
